ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Born and raised in the New York City boroughs, aspiring designer Vianna Occhino graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2014 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in fashion design, focusing on upscale intimate apparel, shapewear and corsetry.  In 2014, Vianna’s senior thesis was chosen for display in the Museum at FIT’s summer 2014 exhibit, ‘Exposed: A History of Lingerie’, marking it the first time in the school’s history to put students' work on display.  Vianna immediately went on to work for household name clothing brands, and by the age of 24 had faced a moment of truth in her short time working with these corporate design houses.

The rigorous world of design isn’t one to be taken lightly.  Vianna felt that the unhealthy dynamics of the corporate design setting took away from the actual goal of a designer - to make people feel beautiful, from the outside-in.  Vianna quickly made a commitment to work independently in her field from 2015.  Vianna battled a number of personal struggles involving her mental health.  In 2016, Vianna was attending Neurofeedback Therapy treatment as a patient to help overcome her mental health struggles, where she was asked to train under the practice’s leading psychiatrist on guiding and issuing Neurofeedback Therapy treatment sessions.  Being aware that Vianna had no background in math or science, he expressed that his interest in working with Vianna had sparked after noticing a unique wave in her scans that he believed gave her a unique perspective, giving her an open perspective while navigating treatment sessions.

After this opportunity, Vianna had a vital realization  — Passion saves lives.  Vianna left the Neurofeedback practice and in 2017, filed her first corporation, Vianna Occhino, LLC — an apparel brand with a mission to raise awareness to mental health treatment and disorders.

Vianna officially launched her fashion house to the public in 2019 under her full name, Vianna Occhino, showing her first sportswear collection in Soho, New York City.   The Soho boutique ran through November and stretched across 3,000 square feet of NYC space, and included a custom yoga studio where the brand hosted free daily fitness & meditation classes in support of their mission for mental health awareness.

ABOUT THE BRAND

In December 2019, Vianna Occhino debuted her sportswear collection in the UAE with a pop-up at Dubai’s music & culture festival, Sole DXB.  The brand received its first notoriety and traction when American rapper, Rico Nasty, wore the limited edition Theta Knit Set during her headline performance at the middle eastern festival.

With the pandemic outbreak in 2020, the young brand worked through the global shifts and changes to properly accommodate the new age digital revolution.  Today, in 2022, we are happy to be announcing new emerging partnerships and collaborations throughout the year.  Vianna Occhino’s commitment to the brand’s mission for mental health, in addition to developing sustainable clothing that’s good for the world, is evident throughout her first collection’s prints, patterns and fabrications, and is part of the brand’s ethos of being a responsible, honest, and modern company.
